The conventional distribution transformers are source of power supply to the public and Small Scale Industries etc., having least protection devices like arcing horns on HV side, provided with pole mounted lightning arresters and fuse links on LV side.
The survey reveals power availability to public has many times interruption. To over come this problem, the next stage of development was initially sealedtype transformers which was also not effective improvement in power supply. Finally approached to self protected transformers (CSP).
Such transformers are advantageous in the following way to the utilities.
