EA Signs MoU of 250MW Solar & Storage Hybrid power solutions with Skipper Nigeria Ltd to Strengthen Electricity Cooperatives in Nigeria

Rural Electrification Agency (REA) signs Memorandum of Understanding with Skipper Nigeriafor 250MW solar and storage Hybrid model to strengthen electricity cooperatives towards improved electricity access in Nigeria.
The Managing Director/CEO, Abba Abubakar Aliyu stated that “today’s MoU signing strengthen REA’s drive for sustainability of projects”. He said “There is a need to always plan for the end of projects and to indeed put in sustainable measures that will drive the continuity of the project post completion. At REA, the REUCS is the platform used to ensure this sustainability. This platform ensures operation and maintenance of the projects as well as security of the infrastructure and revenue collection. Skipper Nigeria through years of expertise under this strategic partnership will help the Agency towards sustaining projects deployed.”
High Commissioner of India to Nigeria His Excellency Balasubramaniam specially invited by MD REA for the MOU signing event of Skipper Nigeria said about Indian initiative of Solar alliance. Solar panels from India are already enjoining technological advantages due to huge investment in R&D, support from policy makers and rising local demand. HC also appriciated Skipper Nigeria for its large investment in Nigeria economy, local manufacturing, capacity building & upskilling of local talent, Skipper has been at the forefront of forging successful partnerships both in India & Africa
Skipper’s Divisional Head Ankit Kumar Monga said, Skipper is already deeply rooted in gas and solar generation in West Afric. Skipper’s portfolio of BESS alone has multiple variants for the division ie

2. Enrich Series of 3.6, 8 & 20KVA aimed at residential market of homes under B to C and B to B with an existing dealers network across Nigeria, Ghana & Kenya.
3. Envault Hybrid Series for Commercial, Industrial & Institutional installations which are the need of the hour. This range starts at 100kva to 1MW Hybrid inverters with multiple variants of LFP Battery Banks for flexible configuration, containerized for easy installation & performance.
Ankit further said that we have a substantial appetite for PPA based models for solar stand alone or hybrid to meet the specific requirements. We already have over 10MWH installed capacity of BESS in Nigeria and will now be able to grow much faster after this MOU has been signed
Reacting to the MOU, Jitender Sachdeva (Group President of Skipper) said that signing MOU is a good support to Skipper’s BESS division which is already growing very fast and has the funding back up from headquarter to add 50-100MW solar and adequate storage PA with assured re payment structure to be in place.
